H1N1 now available through MCPHD
The Staunton Clinic now has H1N1 "Swine" flu vaccine. The injectable vaccine does contain a small amount of thimerosal, which is a preservative. We also have the nasal vaccine, which is a live but weakened vaccine. Clinic patients may call the clinic to make an appointment if they are high risk for H1N1 influenza.
At this time, the vaccine is still being restricted to the high risk populations. This is a governmental restriction that the clinic and health department are required to follow.
High Risk Populations for 2009 H1N1 influenza include:
- Pregnant women
- Person 6 months old to 24 years old
- Persons caring for children under 6 months old
- Persons 25 years old to 64 years old with chronic medical conditions (diabetes, asthma, etc)
- Heathcare Workers
